The Firrhill Garden

This is Firrhill Day Centre. I took a photo of the new garden which they have got now and made with some money from the Scottish Garden Society and the Lottery.

This is the clock which we all had a bit in as it was Firrhill day Center 20th Anniversary lastyear.

This is the entrance to Firrhill and the nice garden is at the bottom where there is a nice greenhouse.

This is the front of Firrhill Day Centre. It was an old peoples home many years ago, and you can see the old fashioned windows of the 18th century type.

This is a plaque at the opening of Firrhill Garden. It was given by the Scottish Natural Heritage to the Lord Provost

This is a picture of a statue made out of wood. It was carved by the late Irene Carroll and it is looking out towards Glasgow. That was the last thing she did before she died.

This is the greenhouse at Firrhill Day Centre. They are growing all different things from tomatoes to lettuces and cucumbers and potatoes. Then there are all the different flowers as well.

This is just a view of the flowers that are out at the moment. Also there are raised beds that people in wheelchairs can work in them and there are some for people who have had a stroke and want to get back into gardening.

I went down the ramp to take photos of the garden. This is like how the Americans have their gardens.

Again this is me at the bottom of the garden and I had just seen this display so I took a photo there and then.

This is the crest of the Royal Engineers. They very kindly made a path down to the gardens which is not steep. It was very difficult for people in wheelchairs and for the people that don't have good balance so they put up railings on the path.

This is one of the things we do at Firrhill day Centre. As you can see there is a mosaic just outside the front door of the building. A lot of the residents made it with the help of the art teacher Alex.

This is the garden which some of us built out of good wood. We have all sorts of different plants in the tubs from crocuses to fuchsia. We get tomatoes and onions and leeks and herbs too.

This is the path that the Royal Engineers made for us before they went out to Iraq. It leads down to the garden and the car park.

This is a water garden that we made. It has a lot of different flowers and stones.

This is the water garden from another side.
