Glaikit someone who looks kind of stupid Dreech misty, dull- typical Scottish weather Aye used for yes Cludgy a word for the toilet- usually out the back in the back yard Pluke that's someone that's got a pimple on their face The bunker that's where you used to keep the coal at the kitchen window. It was a wooden box Ben the hoose that was to go and get something in another room Fankle in a fankle means you are mixed up Shin old Scottish word for shoe Rammy when there's several folk together and there's a bit of a disagreement Lassie/Laddie it's just another name for a girl/boy Poke a bag - If you spent a ha'penny you got a poke (of chips). If you spent a penny you got a bag (Poke covers a lot of things in Scotland. There's an ice cream poke which is a cone. And there's also a poke of chips, which is a folded newspaper full of potato chips. There's also different kinds of paper pokes. That's over and above the kind of poke you give to someone you don't like with your digit!) |
